Mick is the oldest son of Michael Marietta Sr., co-founder of Jake’s Fireworks. Mick began selling fireworks as soon as was able to walk and talk. Mick has grown up in the family business and has had many roles and responsibilities. Some of Mick’s early roles with the company included fulfilling wholesale orders, selecting items and building assortments. Additional early roles included helping run the company’s first brick and mortar store with his grandmother while in grade school. Mick has always had a passion for fireworks and their effects. During his adolescent years with the company Mick was one of the company’s US based testers for performance and quality. It was during this period in Mick’s life he knew he would have a lifelong career in the fireworks industry.
Upon graduation from Pittsburg State University Mick led the Wholesale Sales Division. During Mick’s tenure several innovations occurred as the result of his creativity. Mick helped lead the development of our flagship brand World Class Fireworks. Additionally, Mick was the developer of several of our key products – Excalibur, Goliath, One-Bad-Mother, Loyal To None. Mick also was the innovator and leader in bringing Brocade Crown and Scatter Crackle effects to consumer fireworks. Additionally, during this time Mick helped develop the artwork, names and labels for all our key proprietary brands – World Class, Cutting Edge, and Boomer. Currently Mick is CSO (Chief Sales Officer) of Wholesale Sales and heads Product Development. He divides his time between the US and China. In China Mick works with over 140 vendors and factories to consistently develop high quality, high performing consumer grade fireworks. When Mick is not at work he enjoys spending time with his wife Janelle and their 3 children. He is an avid hunter and enjoys the pursuit of bobwhite quail and ring neck pheasants.
